CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Electric utilities say the number of electric customers without power continues to increase amid strong winds from a powerful storm system moving across the Lowcountry.
As of 4:45 p.m., Dominion Energy reported more more than 35,000 outages across the Lowcountry:
- 16,080 in Charleston County
- 7,737 in Dorchester County
- 5,557 in Beaufort County
- 3,827 in Colleton County
- 1,331 in Orangeburg County
- 1,161 in Berkeley County
Other utilities reported the following outages:
- Berkeley Electric Cooperative reported 9,044 without power across the Tri-County area.
- Coastal Electric Cooperative reported 4,441 people without power in Colleton County.
- Santee Electric Cooperative reported 2,716 offline in Williamsburg County.
- Edisto Electric Cooperative reported 2,404 outages in Dorchester County and 25 in Colleton County.
- Palmetto Electric Cooperative reported 35 without power in Beaufort County

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for most of South Carolina Tuesday morning that includes 40 of the state’s 46 counties and all of the Lowcountry, including Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester, Colleton, Beaufort, Williamsburg and Georgetown Counties. The watch remains in effect until 6 p.m.
