TRACY — An electric line worker was taken to a St. Paul hospital after an electrical contact Wednesday afternoon, Lyon-Lincoln Electric Cooperative spokespeople said.
The incident happened near Tracy around 2:30 p.m.
The worker, an employee of LLEC, experienced an electrical contact while performing the removal of an oil circuit recloser. An oil circuit recloser is a type of protective device used on electric transmission lines.
The injured employee was transported to Sanford Tracy Medical Center and treated there, LLEC said. He was then transferred to Regions Hospital Burn Center in St. Paul for further observation and testing.
LLEC said the incident is currently under investigation by the cooperative and the Minnesota Rural Electric Association. LLEC said it would issue a further statement as more information became available.
