The Parisian electronic group known for its over the top act and sound have called it quits after nearly 30 years.
Daft Punk announced its retiring Monday with an eight minute video titled “Epilogue,” which is an excerpt from the group’s 2006 “Electroma” film.
There is no clear reasoning for the split, but the group seems to have disbanded on good terms.
Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo formed the electronic duo, which is known for hiding their identities behind robot helmets while performing, in 1993.
The group has earned a slew of Grammys over the years and is known for some of the most popular dance and pop songs ever recorded — “Da Funk,” “Around the World” and “Get Lucky.”
In 2016, the group linked up with pop superstar The Weeknd to produce “Starboy” and “I Feel It Coming.”
