The Vanderbilt Faculty Senate and Vice Provost for Research Padma Raghavan will co-host a virtual town hall to discuss the progress of the new Vanderbilt Electronic Research Administration (VERA) system and its implications for university research.

The town hall is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 3:30 p.m. and will be conducted via Zoom.

Each year, Vanderbilt researchers submit approximately 2,200 proposals to external sponsors and receive about 1,000 awards in grants and contracts. With the goal of supporting the VU research community’s success, in April the university announced that it had selected Huron Grants and Agreements to replace the outdated systems Coeus and PEER.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is working closely with faculty members, individual colleges and schools, and research administration staff to facilitate a thoughtful and efficient transition that will advance the university’s thriving research community. The Sponsored Programs Administration and Process and Solution Implementations teams are partnering to lead the Huron implementation in close collaboration with faculty and research administrators from across the university.

Speakers at the Aug. 11 town hall will include Raghavan; Holly Algood, associate professor of medicine at the School of Medicine and past-vice chair of the Faculty Senate; and Noel Enyedy, professor of science education at Peabody College and chair of the Faculty Senate’s Academic Policies and Services Committee.

Faculty members are asked to submit their questions in advance of the town hall using this form.
